Inspired by the pottery traditions she encountered while traveling through Colorado and New Mexico, Barbara (Bobbie) Davis began her journey with clay after enrolling in a wheel-throwing class that quickly sparked a lifelong passion. When that studio closed, she continued developing her skills at St. Petersburg College, learning from accomplished professors and exploring a variety of clay-working and firing techniques. Her hand-built and wheel-thrown pieces draw inspiration from both natural and manmade forms, resulting in unique functional and decorative works that she hopes will become treasured possessions for their owners. A longtime member of the vibrant Cedar Key arts community through Island Arts, she has exhibited her work in shows across Georgia, North Carolina, New York, and Sarasota, earning numerous awards along the way. Most recently, she has enjoyed continued success at the Florida State Fair, where she has received multiple ribbons each year over the past four years, reflecting both her artistic skill and dedication to the craft.
