ABOUT SAFETY HARBOR ART & MUSIC CENTER

Once upon a time in Safety Harbor, Florida, two artists named Todd and Kiaralinda had a wonderfully impractical idea: what if a home, a building, and eventually an entire community space could become a living work of art?

With the help of their friend Heather Richardson, a Pepsi Refresh Grant, architect/designers Grant Genova and Dan Carlson, hundreds of volunteers, and a wildly generous community of artists, dreamers, builders, musicians, mosaic-makers, and general magic-makers, that idea became the Safety Harbor Art and Music Center - lovingly known as SHAMc.

SHAMc opened its doors in 2015 and has been sparkling ever since - literally. More than 290 people helped create the mirrored mosaics that permanently adorn the building, and today the venue features over 300 mirrored mosaic panels, sculptural details, repurposed materials, and whimsical surprises around every corner. It is part performance space, part art installation, part community clubhouse, and part “wait, did that wall just wink at me?”

As a nonprofit community arts venue serving Safety Harbor and the greater Tampa Bay region, SHAMc presents live music, visual art exhibitions, workshops, youth programs, and intergenerational creative experiences. Over the past nine years, SHAMc has hosted 350+ live performances, welcomed more than 700 artists, and brought thousands of people together through concerts, exhibitions, classes, camps, and community events.

At its heart, SHAMc is a place for children, grown-ups, and children-at-heart to gather, create, listen, learn, laugh, and be inspired. Our intimate listening room is designed to bring artists and audiences closer together, while our programming supports working artists, encourages curiosity, and celebrates the belief that art makes communities stronger, kinder, and a lot more interesting.

SHAMc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. EIN: 45-1473112. Donations are tax deductible and help keep the creativity flowing, the music playing, and the mosaics sparkling.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions

  • Safety Harbor Art and Music Center (SHAMc for short) is located at 706 2nd Street North in Safety Harbor, FL 34695. Safety Harbor, Florida, is a city on the west shore of Tampa Bay in Pinellas County. We're a convenient short walking distance from downtown Safety Harbor and it's main street. We're the colorful building with the giant pink elephant out in front.

  • Wednesday/Thursday/Friday from Noon to 5pm. Saturday/Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.

Closed Mondays/Tuesdays except for concerts and special events.

  • Sorry, no pets are allowed. Only approved service animals are permitted inside of the venue.

  • We have limited spaces in front of SHAMc. Street parking is available except where the curbs are painted yellow. There are some city lots nearby. Do not park in the Gigglewaters parking lot adjacent to Daydreamers Cafe as you may be towed. We have one parking space for individuals who are handicapped directly in front of our building.

  • The SHAMc building is ADA compliant. Yes! SHAMc's ODDitorium, boutique, art studios, and restrooms are wheelchair accessible. We have one ADA parking spot in front of the arts center. Click here for our self-guided tour, which includes a visual map of our ADA parking spot and wheelchair-accessible entrances.  If you have specific accessibility needs—such as seating accommodations or early entry—please email info@SHAMc.org or call 727 304 LOVE (5683) for assistance.

  • No, outside beverages are not allowed. We are a licensed venue, and bringing your own drinks could put our liquor license at risk. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us stay compliant with local regulations. Enjoy our great selection at the bar instead!

  • Absolutely! We love large groups. You can submit the form on this page to book a tour or visit the tour page on our website.

  • Children 4 and under are free on our tours.

  • Yes! Please add this request when contacting us about a tour of the SHAMc Complex.

  • When a concert reaches capacity and sells out, a waitlist is enabled. If a spot opens, waitlisted individuals are notified in the order they joined. We call people on the phone directly to offer these spots. More than likely, if you are contacted, it will be on the day of the concert. It has also come to our attention that there is a resale market and that many of these are scams. If you're purchasing resale, do so at your own risk. We recommend that you register for the event as early as possible to avoid being waitlisted. You can learn about our upcoming concerts from our weekly email - Sign up below!

  • Unfortunately, we cannot offer refunds. All sales are final on concert and workshop tickets

  • Todd Ramquist is in charge of booking music events, and he works directly with booking agent and managers. We are a small mom-and-pop venue, but we try to bring top tier musicians and artists to our space, most of them award-winning and with a strong following. If you meet this criteria, please have your booking agent reach out to Todd directly. If you're a local musician looking to get your foot in the door, we recommend coming to our Open Mic Nights.

  • Yes, all supplies are included unless otherwise communicated in the class description or via email.

  • When a class reaches capacity, a waitlist is enabled. If a spot opens, waitlisted individuals are notified in the order they joined. You have 24 hours to register before the next person is contacted.

  • Yes, please email us a photo and description of the supplies you want to donate. Due to limited space, we cannot accept everything. You can view a list of needed items here. SHAMc is a non-profit organization and, as such, all donations are tax deductible.

  • Yes. We believe that phones are a part of the artistic journey. As such, we allow phones at our summer camps as long as participants use them for creative purpose. Examples of this are photography or making videos.

  • We are always looking for new, creative ideas to expand our offerings. To be considered, please fill out this form with your workshop idea, description, and sample images and our Director will be in touch.
