The full-day SHAMc experience is an inspiring arts adventure that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and a new way of seeing the world.

Students begin their journey with a guided tour of WhimZeyLand, one of approximately 150 recognized art environments in the United States. Through exploration, scavenger hunts, and interactive discussion, they discover how imagination, recycled materials, and everyday objects can be transformed into extraordinary works of art.

The experience continues at the Safety Harbor Art and Music Center (SHAMc), where students enjoy an in-depth tour of our vibrant creative campus. Surrounded by mosaics, sculptures, found-object installations, and immersive artistic environments, students gain a deeper appreciation for sustainability and creative expression. 

Students then participate in a hands-on art-making experience aligned with Florida Educational Standards and adapted for grades K-12. Working individually or collaboratively, they transform recycled and found materials into original works of art while applying the concepts of the elements and principles of designed that have been reinforced and explored throughout the day.

Each student leaves with a unique artwork, or contributes to a collaborative creation, reinforcing lessons in creativity, observation, problem-solving, and design.

At SHAMc, students discover that art is everywhere, inspiration can come from anything, and with imagination and curiosity, anything is possible.
