While visiting Colorado and New Mexico I became interested in pottery and wished I could create such wonderful art. Then several years ago I happened upon a shop that offered wheel classes and the first class had me hooked. When they closed, I found my place at St. Petersburg College, always learning more from the terrific professors.
I work with clay in several techniques, and firing skills. My hand building and wheel thrown are inspired by organic and manmade shapes that surround us. I enjoy the challenge of making unique art (functional and nonfunctional) for those that will eventually possess the piece and the joy of finding a "treasure".
I enjoyed being part of the artist community in Cedar Key for many years (Island Arts). I've been in several shows and received awards in Georgia, Sarasota, North Carolina and New York. More recently in the past four years in the Florida State Fairs, receiving several ribbons each year.
