Wild Makers Camp 2026 with Echo Sheppard

Wild Makers Camp brought another colorful week of creativity to SHAMc, giving campers the chance to experiment with printmaking, fabric design and imaginative upcycling.

The week began with an introduction to printmaking. Campers started small by carving their own designs into erasers, learning how an image can be transferred, repeated and transformed through ink. From there, they moved on to linoleum block printing, creating original designs to print on both paper and fabric.

Throughout the week, campers were encouraged to experiment and see where their ideas could take them. They explored tie-dye, created reverse-dye designs on old T-shirts and discovered new ways to turn familiar materials into one-of-a-kind works of art. Each project offered a chance to play with color, pattern, texture and repetition while learning that creative mistakes can often lead to the most interesting results.

After rinsing their tie-dye creations, the shirts were hung outside to dry in the Florida sunshine, adding even more color to the SHAMc grounds.

Of course, a week of wild making also calls for a little adventure. Campers took a walk to Ice Bar for popsicles, enjoying a cool treat and some time together outside the studio.

Wild Makers Camp was all about creative freedom, experimentation and finding new possibilities in everyday materials. We loved watching each camper develop their ideas, try unfamiliar techniques and create artwork that was completely their own.
