A Community Celebration Like No Other

On Sunday, November 30, 2025, the Safety Harbor Art & Music Center marked a milestone- nine incredible years of creativity, connection, and community- with our annual SHAMcGivinG celebration and Decorated Umbrella Parade. Every year, SHAMcGivinG feels like a burst of color and joy, but this year's theme, ArtZy HeartZy One Love, brought something extra: a palpable spirit of unity woven into every umbrella, outfit, drumbeat, and smile.

A Parade of Heart and Imagination

Streets came alive as participants of all ages donned heart-filled costumes, flowing reds, hot pinks, and whimsical wearable art. The decorated umbrellas, each more imaginative than the last, bloomed like giant flowers as the Gulfport Gecko Amalgamated Marching Band led the crowd through downtown Safety Harbor with explosive brass and infectious energy. It wasn’t just a parade, it was a mobile art gallery, a block-party-with-purpose, and a celebration of what happens when a town decides to show up for creativity.

Back at SHAMc: Music, Movement, and Meaning

After the parade, the celebration continued inside the walls that started it all. Guests filled the courtyard and Back Love Garden for art activities, community connections, and a night of music that kept feet tapping and spirits high. Heart motifs appeared everywhere, painted on faces, glowing on shirts, stitched into umbrellas, and reflected in conversations and laughter. This year’s event also incorporated a meaningful act of giving: collecting non-perishable goods for post-hurricane relief efforts in Jamaica.

As we step into our tenth year, we are filled with gratitude. SHAMcGivinG exists because you - our artists, volunteers, donors, musicians, dreamers, and beautifully weird neighbors - believe in the magic we’re building here. Your support keeps our classes accessible, our concerts unforgettable, our teen and senior programs growing, and our doors, hearts, and imaginations wide open.
