Week three of summer camps at the Safety Harbor Art and Music Center was a joyful celebration of creativity, rhythm, and reuse! Led by Miss Jellie, also known as musician Angelica Egozcue, Junkyard Jubilee invited campers to discover the musical possibilities hiding in everyday discarded materials.
Throughout the week, campers transformed reclaimed objects into their own one-of-a-kind instruments. They experimented with different materials, sounds, and rhythms while learning that creativity doesn’t require fancy supplies- sometimes, all it takes is a little imagination and a willingness to make some noise!
The week ended with a special concert where the campers performed using the instruments they had created. The final show was playful, energetic, and full of personality, giving each young musician a chance to share their work and celebrate w
hat they had accomplished together.
Junkyard Jubilee was a wonderful reminder that art and music can be found almost anywhere- and that yesterday’s “junk” might just become tomorrow’s masterpiece.
