Week 2 of Summer Camp at Safety Harbor Art and Music Center was all about imagination, teamwork, movement, and the magic of theater! Our Theater Camp campers spent the week diving into the world of performance as they worked together on a playful production inspired by Finding Nemo.

Throughout the week, campers explored what it means to bring a story to life on stage. They learned about the different parts of theater, including the stage, backstage, sets, costumes, characters, movement, and performance. From learning dance routines to practicing scenes, the campers got a hands-on look at how much creativity, collaboration, and courage go into putting on a show.

A big part of the week was costume design, where campers used their imaginations to help create the colorful characters and underwater world of the play. They also practiced working together as an ensemble, supporting one another as they learned lines, movement, and stage presence. For many campers, this was a chance to build confidence, try something new, and discover just how fun it can be to step into a character.

At SHAMc, summer camp is always more than just a place to spend the day. It is a place where kids get to create, experiment, collaborate, and grow. Theater Camp gave campers the opportunity to use their voices, bodies, and imaginations while learning valuable skills in communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.

We loved watching the campers come out of their shells (or maybe their sea anemones) as they danced, acted, designed, laughed, and worked together throughout the week. Thank you to our amazing campers, families, instructors, and volunteers for making Week 2 such a fun and creative adventure.

We can’t wait to see what the rest of summer brings at SHAMc!
