BOLDER TALK--Thoughts Become Things.
Saturday October 26, 2019
Doors open 630pm- Bolder Talk at 7pm
Musical performances following Bolder Talk
Quite a few years ago I was flying on a plane to see family and my life was spinning out of control and I read some new age kinda self help book about positive thinking…at the time I had this awful picture of a snaggle tooth dog on my bathroom mirror with the words “Don’t forget to floss” written on it to remind myself how important self care is…and it came to me in a flash “Mirrors should have positive affirmations…everyone looks in a mirror at least once a day!!!”…I promptly went home and started cutting up wood that I had laying around to cover my windows for hurricanes.
We are doing an show featuring my mirrors and other objects made from things I find laying around. Some of my old pals will be there to help us celebrate.
Featuring Performances by Natty Moss Bond, Steve Peake, Sam Bond, Judy Tampa, Ronny Elliott, Walt Bucklin, Anne Van Atta, George Pappas, Steve Connelly
Here is a little bit about me…
I grew up in Asheville, NC and moved to St. Pete and have been here for 20 years, or so. I am a musician and an artist, a part-time shopkeeper and a housepainter. Most of my art is made out of leftovers.
The cards that I create are made out of old folders from offices, images that I cut out of magazines, old photos, old books…fabric…plastic from old printing projects, anything that I can reuse. What I don't use I try to recycle. There is a never-ending supply of raw material if you just ask for it.
I make shrines out of tin boxes...and bottle caps. I get wood from construction projects and make larger shrines. I cut up aluminum cans for raw material... I make mosaics from broken ceramic. Anything that would normally be put into a garbage heap, I try to make into something beautiful.
I am convinced that the only way to save the planet is to re-use and then recycle.

RICKY BOSCARINO the Mastermind behind the psychedelic wonderland LUNA PARC
Bolder Talk: 6:30-7pm, January 19, 2018
Sculptural Concrete Workshop: January 20-21, 2018 • 10am-5pm
Born into an artistic family dating back to the time of the Medici, Ricky Boscarino, aka: Ricky of Luna Parc, has continued the lineage of artistry and craftsmanship. His largest work in progress is his home and atelier, Luna Parc, begun in 1989.
A graduate of the rhode island school of design in 1982, Ricky continues to create whimsical, sophisticated work in a variety of media including metal, clay, glass, wood and cement. Ricky was born in Paterson, New Jersey on December 15, 1960.
•••••••••••••
There is a long history of non-conforming construction known as ferro-cement. Basically it refers to any type of reinforcing steel, iron or other metal combined with traditional and modified concrete(cement)
Ricky Boscarino has created numerous sculptures both public and at his home Luna Parc using this method. It is also used in construction of shelters and homes to create sculpted living spaces.
Ricky has been inspired by the undulating roof lines of Gaudi of Barcelona as well as the eccentric imposing facades of Hundertwasser ( of Vienna and New Zealand).
In this two day workshop we will construct a sculptural electrified lamppost which will be a permanent fixture at SHAMc in Safety Harbor FL. We'll work with Ricky and the founders of SHAMc on the piece using the ferro-cement method. You can be a part of the process from beginning to completion.
The process can be difficult at times, cement, wire mesh and wire are somewhat stubborn materials so be prepared to work, have fun and be a part of this amazing experience. The result will be spectacular!
We ask for $10 per person per day for the experience.

KLIMCHAK
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2019 at 2PM
FOLLOWED BY MUSICAL PERFORMANCE
Klimchak is a composer known for his use of electronics & homebuilt instruments. His work has been seen in dance, theater & solo performances around the world. In 2011, he was given a grant by Idea Capital to make a series of compositions for home-built percussion instruments with lights incorporated in them. They were performed in 2012/2013 as flash percussion performances, titled Klimchak’s Lebeato Lounge. In March, 2015, Klimchak premiered his solo show, CooksNotes, in which he makes music on kitchen implements while cooking dinner for the audience.
Klimchak regularly performs solo shows featuring the Don Buchla designed Marimba Lumina. Only about 100 of this very rare instrument were made. With the Marimba Lumina the percussionist is able to perform live music that would normally take at least 4 musicians. His multi-instrumental compositions are played with 4 separate mallets, six foot pedals and a breath controller. As added touches, his sets usually include 4 or 5 small percussion instruments, some chanting or tuvan throat singing and at least one solo on the theremin.
